About Chancellor

Shri.Biswabhushan Harichandan was appointed as the 23rd Governor of Andhra Pradesh in July 2019 by Union Government. He is a senior BJP leader from Odisha.

He worked as national executive member and state general secretary in Jana Sangh till the formation of Janata Party in 1977. During the state of emergency declared across the country for 21 months from 1975-1977, he was detained under Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA).

Shri Biswabhushan Harichandan has a law degree and was a practiced advocate. After the formation of BJP in 1980, he was appointed as a State President and continued till 1988 before he joined Janata Dal. Later he in 1996, rejoined BJP.

His political career has started with Bharatiya Jana Sangh in the year 1971 and was elected to the Odisha State Legislative Assembly five times. He won as MLA from Chilika constituency for two times and won three times in arrow to the state assembly from Bhubaneswar from the same constituency.

His interests include organizing people to fight against injustice and corruption and educating the common people about their social & Constitutional rights. He is interested in writing one act plays and in organizing & addressing people for their cultural upliftment and to be proud of their great tradition history and cultural heritage.

In 2021 Shri Biswabhushan Harichandan was awarded with the Kalinga Ratna Award, an annual education award to a qualified Odisha person who has made a significant contribution to any field at the national/international level.

He has authored several books that includes Marubataas, Mahasangramar Mahanayak, Buxi Jagabandhu, Paika Mutiny and his autobiography Sangarsha Sarinahin.
